welcome to hawk+key

I'm Hannah, Boston-native/ Baltimore-transplant, wife and mother, avid dog lover, amateur hiker, and active dreamer. Ever since I was a child, I've loved to draw and make art, taking as many classes as I could and completing a minor in Studio Art in college. I drew ALL the time. And then...life got in the way, and I just...plain...stopped.

Fast forward to the pandemic in full swing and working from home for the first time, I set up a home office. I envisioned a piece of artwork for the wall and looked for it high and low. It had to be out there, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.  That's when it hit me - DUH!  This is why people create art; when the images in our minds, especially the ones that inspire us, don't already exist in the world.  How could I have forgotten that?

Decades of inaction disappeared in that moment.  I started back with pen and ink, moved on to alcohol markers, then taught myself how to work digitally and fell into an obsessive love affair with making patterns. I started hawk+key, because I wanted to share the images in my head with the world, particularly the ones associated with dreams and the funny stuff that pops up in the day-to-day.

I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy making it!  I love collaborating on projects and doing custom work, so please send me a message if there's something you envision that we may be able to bring to life. I'd love to hear your ideas!
